Pricing A Kitchen By Shape And Finish
A modular kitchen is priced primarily by running length — the total length of cabinets along the counter — multiplied by a rate that depends on the finish. Shape matters too: an L-shape or U-shape uses the same running-length logic across two or three walls, while an island adds a meaningfully higher fixed cost for its freestanding structure and additional plumbing or electrical work.

What is running length exactly?
The total length of cabinet along the counter, measured wall to wall along each section. For an L-shape, add both arms together; for a U-shape, all three sides.
Is the countertop included in this estimate?
No, countertop material — granite, quartz or quartzite — is priced separately and can add ₹150 to ₹500 per square foot depending on the material chosen. It is one of the largest variables outside this calculator's scope.
Why does an island kitchen cost so much more?
Beyond the extra cabinetry, an island typically requires additional plumbing and electrical work to the freestanding unit, plus structural support depending on your flooring. It also generally needs a larger kitchen footprint to work well.
Should I include tall units in my running length?
Tall units (for a built-in oven, or floor-to-ceiling pantry storage) are usually priced per unit rather than by running length, since they involve significantly more material than a standard base cabinet. Budget for them separately.
How long does a modular kitchen take to install?
Typically 20 to 30 days from finalised design to installation, assuming standard hardware is in stock. Custom finishes or imported hardware can extend this by several weeks.
